About Us

1Helps1 was founded by Patience Nkinzingabo. Currently a North Dakota resident, Patience’s refugee story begins in 1999 with a 7 year-old Congolese boy, from Banyamulenge tribe, fleeing his home alongside his mother and a family friend, each with one of his little brothers on their back. After spending 16 years in a refugee camp and both witnessing and experiencing hardship and violence firsthand, Patience and his family were selected as UN High Commission refugees and were resettled in the USA

Our offerings include an enriching after-school program that offers diverse activities for students to learn, grow, and promote teamwork. is a non-profit organization with a mission to address and prevent vagabondism, smoking, and alcoholism among refugee children and teenagers. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive after-school programs, incentives, and rewarding opportunities that inspire and motivate them to complete their education. By empowering these young individuals, we aim to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to lead more productive lives not only within the camps but also beyond.We do it by hope+ faith=love

1Helps1 was founded by Patience Nkinzingabo. Currently a North Dakota resident, Patience’s refugee story begins in 1999 with a 7 year-old Congelese Banyamulenge boy fleeing his home alongside his mother and a family friend, each with one of his little brothers on their back. After spending 16 years in a refugee camp and both witnessing and experiencing hardship and violence firsthand, Patience and his family were selected as UN High Commission refugees and were resettled in the USA with his wife, Chantal. He recently graduated from NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND, with his LPN degree and plans to continue his education further. Patience and his wife send back as much of their income as they can to help their loved ones back home in the DRC and the Burundi camps.
